What affects the price of a replacement key?

The vehicle, key type, programming requirements, location and whether you still have a working key all affect the quote. Use our quote form to provide these details.

Should I buy a replacement key online first?

Please check compatibility with us before buying. A key that looks identical may not suit your vehicle, and we cannot confirm whether a customer-supplied key can be programmed without checking it.

What is relay theft?

Relay theft exploits some keyless-entry systems by making the vehicle detect its key as nearby when it is not. The key does not have to be physically stolen. The following precautions can help reduce the risk:

• Protect every key: keep your main and spare fobs in properly closed signal-blocking Faraday pouches or boxes when not in use.
• Check the protection regularly: confirm that your vehicle cannot unlock using passive entry with the fob sealed inside. Keep other keys away during the check and follow the product instructions. Replace a pouch if it no longer blocks the signal.
• Store keys securely: keep them out of sight and away from doors, windows and the vehicle.
• Check manufacturer options: your handbook or dealer can advise whether keyless functions can be switched off and whether security software updates are available.
• Add physical protection: consider a suitably rated steering-wheel lock and use a locked garage where available.

Use several precautions together. A Faraday pouch addresses relay risk; it does not protect against every method of vehicle theft.

Keep a spare key somewhere safe

Arrange a spare while you still have a working key, and store it securely away from your everyday key. Include spare keyless fobs in your signal-blocking precautions.

Lost a key or suspect it was stolen?

Tell us whether any working keys remain and ask what security steps are available for your vehicle. If you suspect theft, report it to the police and contact your insurer. Avoid posting your key details or vehicle documents publicly.
